Dadeville volleyball teams looks to advance further in 2008 campaign

Published Wednesday, August 6, 2008

The football team at Dadeville isn’t the only one battling the heat as the Lady Tigers volleyball team is also gearing up for their 2008 campaign. The team began practicing on Tuesday with high hopes they can be even better than they were last year.

“I’m excited and with the new girls I think we’re gonna be alright,” said Dadeville head coach Sabrina Milligan.

“It’s been going pretty smooth, but this gym is hot so we try and get them out of here after about two hours.”

Last season Dadeville won the area, placed fourth in regionals, and lost in the sub-state – they were just game away from state.

Even though they are losing players off of last years team, Milligan feels they’ll be right back in the mix.

“We have some new girls coming in and with them hopefully we won’t miss a beat,” Milligan said. “But the season’s going to get here pretty quick.”

Among the early things the Lady Tigers are working on are passing and staying away from mental mistakes.

“We’re trying to get ready and just working on the fundamentals,” Milligan said. “We’re really working on a lot of passing. To me if you can’t pass, you can’t win.

“We are also working on serving and keeping our serves inbounds so we don’t give away easy points.”

Dadeville’s first game will be on Aug. 28 – the same day as the high school football season starts.
