Community invited to annual luau

For an evening of tasty food, good music and dancing with friends, the Dadeville Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Lake Martin Luau is the place to be.
“We’re real excited about this luau and dinner dance,” said Jerry Bynum, one of the organizers of the event.
The luau will be held Saturday, Aug. 23 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Camp ASCCA Dadeville Campus, formerly the campus of Camp Civitan.
The meal will be prepared by Dadeville residents Tom Melvin, Harry Wooten, Laeman Butcher and Karen White. The food consists of a pig cooking, seafood gumbo and a low country boil.
“We’re going to have a really nice cookout dinner,” Bynum said.
Musical entertainment will be provided by the Ryan Robertson Band, a group out of the Anniston area.
“We’ve got a great band,” Bynum said. “This is going to be something special.”
About 120 people attended the luau last year, and Bynum hopes for at least that this year.
“We’re looking for a bigger crowd,” he said.
Tickets for the event are $75 per person and money goes to the operation of the Dadeville Area Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to the dinner and dance, the event will have a silent auction.
“The Chamber does projects throughout the year and this helps fund their projects,” Bynum said. “We want to invite the entire community.”
Tickets are available at the Chamber office. Dress for the event is business casual. Photos will be taken for a charge of $20 per package.
