Lady Tigers preparing for opener

The Dadeville Lady Tigers volleyball team is shaping up early on in the preseason, according to head coach Sabrina Milligan.
“We’ve had a pretty good week,” Milligan said. “Practices have been getting better as we go. We’re getting there.”
The Lady Tigers have been practicing since Aug. 5, the first day of school.
Among the positives Milligan sees so far is defense. She said her team doing a nice job of holding serve.
“The girls are hitting the ball well,” Milligan said. “We can still get better, but that’s where we’re strong right now.”
The coach said her team needs to improve on the offensive end, but she likes the direction they are headed.
“Our passing and serving need a little work,” Milligan said. “We’ve got some time to fix that, but our first game is an area game, so we’ve got to be ready.”
That first game is Aug. 28, when Dadeville will make the trip to Valley for a match up with the Beulah Bobcats. Dadeville, Beulah and B.B. Comer High School will be competing for the Class 3A Area 7 crown.
The Tigers will be looking to duplicate their area performance from a year ago, when they brought home the area championship.
This year, however, Dadeville hopes to make it to the state tournament, a place it was one game short of reaching last season.
