Sister Hazel makes their return

Published Thursday, August 21, 2008

For Sister Hazel, it didn’t take the third time to be the charm.

Sister Hazel has entertained crowds on Lake Martin for the past two years, and they will be back again to help closeout the summer.

Sister Hazel will perform at the Lake Martin Amphitheater on Sunday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m.

“This is our third year and every year it’s gotten bigger and better,” said Dave Commander, vice president of marketing for Russell Lands. “They attract a real good audience. They put on a great concert. They think its one of the best venues they play in across the United States. They love Lake Martin.”

The Hogg Mountain Luggnuts, based in Alexander City, will be opening for Sister Hazel.

Sister Hazel formed in 1993 in Gainesville, Fla. The band recorded the album “Somewhere More Familiar” which sold more than 30,000 copies. Sister Hazel then signed with Universal and re-released the album and it went platinum.

The group’s lead single “All For You” was a number one hit.

The Luggnuts cover a range of music such as 80s rock, country and southern rock.

Gates for the event will open at 4:30 p.m. at the Lake Martin Amphitheater and the show will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster or at the gate.

“There should still be tickets available at the gate but I would advise to come early,” Commander said.
