Tigers' offense spreads wings

Published Wednesday, July 16, 2008

Dadeville High School was in the presence of collegiate coaches last weekend when the Tigers attended a passing camp at Auburn University.

The camp centered around Auburn offensive coordinator Tony Franklin’s no huddle spread attack. White said the most important aspect the players learned was how to keep tempo in the spread drills.

“They made things a lot clearer for our players,” White said. “There was more instruction on how to run offensive drills at a faster pace.”

White said he and the rest of the Tiger coaching staff learned a lot as well.

“(The camp) clarified a few things for me,” White said. “I know it helped the rest of the coaches because they were able to see how to run one these drills the right way.”

The camp did not have direct instruction from Franklin, but other Auburn and Troy University coaches taught the Tiger quarterbacks how to read defenses and showed the receivers how to run cleaner, more crisp routes.

“I don’t know if the camp will benefit us this season,” White said. “But it can’t help but make us better.”
