Editorial: Uniforms encouraged for county schools

Published Wednesday, July 23, 2008

All area schools have dress codes, but we encourage the Tallapoosa County Board of Education to look at school uniforms as a possibility.

Coosa County schools have made the switch the school uniforms, and it has worked well for them.

Uniforms would rid parents and students of the issues of what to wear to school.

Often times designer clothes versus other clothes is a big issue for students, but uniforms would eliminate that issue.

Also, teachers would spend less time enforcing the dress code and more time teaching.

Dress code issues would no longer be a big problem, because students would have just a few options for what to wear each day.

We strongly encourage the Tallapoosa County Board of Education to look at the school uniform option for the future.

School uniforms have been successful in many other schools.
