Rescue Squad held training at Wind Creek

Welcome to the Berry Patch. What beautiful weather we are having. The Tallapoosa county Peckerwood Rescue Squad conducted training this pat weekend at Wind Creek State Park and we couldn’t have ordered better weather. The training went great. Terry Newman ran one boat and Mannon Simm’s ran the second boat. They each trained two people at a time and after an hour and a half they would come in and get two more in each boat and go right back out. I went out on the first boat out and Saturday and again Saturday evening and then again on Sunday. Everybody that wanted to go out got a chance to do so. I had two grandsons come over on Saturday and stayed until late Sunday. I enjoyed seeing them. I was at the park training and they came over there and then came back over to the park Sunday and fished some while we were training. Then they helped us pack up the trucks, boats and trailers. They enjoyed it and said they wished they lived here. Their names are Tommy Chatham and Joshua Billings. Tommy lives in LaGrange, Ga. and Joshua lives in Valley. Joshua and his wife Lacey are expecting their first baby in January.
When driving around town, I’m seeing a lot of beautiful fall decorations in yards. This is truly a beautiful time of year. The Sportplex is gearing up for Oktoberfest and they’re displayed some fall decorations that make the drive through there even more attractive than usual.
Well, while Washington is trying to figure out what to do about the economic crisis that they’ve finally admitted we’re in, (We’ve known all along) maybe they’ll get so busy they’ll get their noses out of our business. With all the restrictions and taxes they’ve passed on small businesses the average American can’t have a business and enjoy a profit. They’ve supported the large business and given tax breaks to the rich and powerful and surpassed the average America until there’s no such thing as free enterprise anymore. They forget that’s what America was built on.
Say an extra prayer for our citizens who are suffering through these hard times. It reminds me of Humpty Dumpty, nobody in Washington can figure how to put the pieces back together again. Don’t panic, just concentrate on what you can do and ask God for guidance. Sometimes we think that there’s nothing we can do that will make a difference, but there is. Remember even a small, small pebble thrown in the eater makes a big ripple effect. So let’s buckle down the hatches and help each other get through this.
Until next week, I ask God’s blessing on each and everyone of you and I hope you’ll join me again next week right here in the Berry Patch.
