Free 2010 calendars available in New Site
Published Wednesday, December 16, 2009
New Site residents can get a free calendar, thanks to the town of New Site and the U.S. Census Bureau.
The calendars are available at the New Site Town Hall and also serve as a reminder about the 2010 Census. Each New Site Town Council member received a calendar last night at its regular meeting.
“The census is one of the most important events for any municipality,” said town clerk Deloris Riddle. “It’s important that everyone participates in the census because it will affect us for the next decade.”
The first four months of the calendar include information about the upcoming census and the final eight months have photos of places around town including town hall, parks and Horseshoe Bend School.
The calendars are available on a first-come, first-served available basis.
In other business, the council approved purchasing two air conditioners/heaters for the park’s concession stand and allowed assistant town clerk Shelia Fuller the opportunity to attend a conference in Tuscaloosa.
The town’s offices will close for Christmas and New Year’s on Dec. 24-25 and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 respectively. However, the council will have its regular meeting on Dec. 28.
