On Tape: Surveillance video captures a suspect walking into the Walnut Hill Eagle store brandishing a firearm.
The Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a Tuesday night armed robbery at the Walnut Hill Eagle Convenience Store on Highway 49 south of Dadeville.
At 6:51 p.m. on Dec. 15, two men wearing ski masks, one of which brandished a gun, entered the store located at the intersection of Alabama highways 49 and 50 and left with money from the cash register, alcohol and cigarettes.
“The suspects made demands for the money to the cashier,” Sheriff Jimmy Abbett. “The suspects used one handgun.”
The sheriff’s department said in a release that one suspect is between 5 feet, 9 inches and 5 feet, 11 inches tall and wore a blue short sleeve shirt with a black long sleeve shirt underneath, blue jeans, black shoes and a black ski mask. The second suspect is between 5 feet, 5 inches and 5 feet, 7 inches tall wearing a dark long sleeved shirt, blue jeans, white-black shoes and a gray ski mask.
The release indicated that the suspects fled on foot from the store.
“We don’t know which direction they went after they left the store,” Abbett said.
Abbett said no shots were fired and no one was injured.
The sheriff’s department is asking anyone with information to call (256) 825-4264 or the Secret Witness number at (256) 825-2735.
