Working together for our best

Published Wednesday, July 1, 2009

KwangSung America and the Tallapoosa Country Commission did a good job working together to the mutual benefit of both organizations recently. And in the process, residents in our area will win, too.

KwangSung America is a Korean supplier to the automobile industry that operates a manufacturing company in Dadeville’s William Thweatt Industrial Park. In order to expand its facilities, KwangSung asked the commission to extend the terms of its debt agreement with the county.

The county also agreed to refund and reissue the current bond agreement with KwangSung in order to extend the payment plan by two years.

Both proposals passed unanimously.

Basically, the county found a way to help one of its successful businesses become even more successful without incurring any additional cost to taxpayers.

“There will be no additional debt and no additional costs to the county,” said County Administrator Blake Beck. “It is a very good business decision.”

We’d like to congratulate Tallapoosa County commissioners on their willingness to assist a growing manufacturer that will eventually bring more jobs and tax revenues to the county.
