Reeltown rips Loachapoka

The Reeltown Rebels used their stable of returning backs very efficiently in a hard-hitting victory over Loachapoka in Thursday’s spring game.
Willie McKenzie, Frank Kitt and Ki-Shawn Powell all scored touchdowns in a 20-8 triumph for Jackie Oneal’s team.
“I think both teams showed they have talent,” O’Neal said. “They did a good job of making adjustments in the second half, as good clubs do, but our kids responded well, scoring a touchdown right after they did.
“I think we got accomplished what we wanted to this spring,” O’Neal said. “We got a look at our young kids, and we showed some signs that we may able to do some things this season.”
After both teams traded punts in their first two possessions, McKenzie, who finished with 53 yards on nine carries, broke free for a 26-yard scoring run to cap an eight-play, 75-yard drive.
After forcing another Indian punt, the Rebels marched 65 yards and ate 4:58 off the clock. Powell streaked in from 10 yards out, and Nic Chaffin’s extra point made it 13-0 at half.
Loachapoka came out firing in the second half, however. Quarterback Patrick Moore completed seven straight passes, including a 10-yarder to Gregory Moss for a score with 6:21 left.
The Indians stopped Reeltown on its next possession, but Milton Chambliss intercepted a pass to get it right back for the Rebels.
Both teams then exchanged fumble recoveries, before Reeltown salted away the game with another long drive. Kitt bulled his way from 11 yards out to make it 20-8.
Chambliss, who will replace Anarius White at quarterback for Reeltown, completed 4-of-4 passes for 31 yards. The longest was a 14-yarder to Dara Riley.
“Milton played extremely well,” O’Neal said. “With our backs and line, all he is going to have to do is command the offense. He did a good job of managing it (last night).”
