Council to discuss cable
Representative of James Cable to attend city’s next meeting Tuesday
Published Wednesday, February 3, 2010
The Dadeville City Council hopes to get good reception from citizens as it states its case to a representative of James Cable during next Tuesday’s meeting.
The city is encouraging residents to bring their complaints to the meeting that will take place at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Dadeville City Hall.
“We want citizens to come voice their concerns about the cable system,” Mayor Mike Ingram said. “We want them to hear the complaints we’re getting.”
Ingram said the city would like the cable system to make improvements to address the high number of complaints from the roughly 400 customers of James Cable in the city.
“It’s not that we don’t want them to stay here, but we need to get the system up to where it needs to be,” Ingram said. “We want them to do what the customers want them to do.”
The city will also discuss with the cable system representative the ongoing contract dispute at the meeting, Ingram said.
The dispute stems from the length of the contract the city signed with the provider in the late 1980s, city attorney Robin Reynolds previously told the council.
“I believe the contract must be renewed every 15 years, but they claim it’s a perpetual contract,” Reynolds said.
Ingram said the city would like to hear from citizens who plan to attend the meeting. They can call City Hall at 825-9242.
