Residents of Dadeville and the surrounding areas saw something over the last week that they are not accustomed to.
The area was blanketed with snow two times in a span of three days, but Tallapoosa County Emergency Management Agency Director Joe Paul Boone said the unusual weather did not cause any serious issues this week.
“We didn’t have any issues to my knowledge,” Boone said Wednesday. “We handled a lot of the normal things like telling folks to be as careful as possible on the roads.”
Boone said while snow fell briefly Monday night into Tuesday morning in the area, the greatest accumulation of snow occurred Friday morning.
“Storm spotters Friday reported as much as two inches of snow on the ground in Dadeville,” Boone said.
While the snow Monday night only resulted in a light dusting, Boone said it caught a lot of residents off guard and actually resulted in more problems for county crews. The snow and lower temperatures resulted in icy conditions for drivers on the river bridge.
“The snow kind of surprised all of us,” Boone said. “We were prepared because of snow on Friday and it made for a quick response. It was a surprise, but everyone was prepared.”
