The old fire tower on Smith Mountain, a longtime lake landmark which has been officially off-limits and unsafe to visitors for years, will be fully restored this year

Restoration: Members of the Horseshoe Bend Garden Club present Bill Brown with $500 as part of the effort to restore the Smith Mountain fire tower.

280 wreck: Two people were injured after this semi-truck overturned on U.S. 280 in Dadeville Tuesday. One victim was transported to Baptist South in Montgomery while the other victim was taken to Russell Medical Center by ambulance.

Landing: A helicopter landed on U.S. 280 to airlift a victim to Baptist South.

Josh Martin of Horseshoe Bend will be a part of the 14th annual All-Star Week next week in Huntsville. Edward Bell head coach Mitch Joiner will help coach the South boys. Dadeville’s Cameron Carleton was also selected to participate in the baseball game, which is Tuesday in Joe Davis Stadium.
